Using proceeds from Penny Wars, running a concession stand and other fundraisers East Middle School students bought more than $1,500 worth of toys to give to needy children. The toys were turned over to the Joplin Fire Department, which will handle the distribution.

Student Council members bought the toys Friday afternoon and they were displayed during an assembly seventh hour Friday in the EMS Auditorium.
