Students in the cramped commons area at East Middle School were not the only ones treated to entertainment from the EMS Band and Cheerleaders Friday when the winter pep rally was held.

Former EMS student Harry Carpenter, who left earlier in the week to spend the rest of the semester in Australia, watched the pep rally via the miracles of modern technology through Ms. Cheryl Mitchell's IPad.

Harry also had the opportunity to say hello to many of his friends while remaining a part of East Middle School

The students, who have been studying author S. E. Hinton's classic The Outsiders, which is set in the '50s, dressed up in clothing styles of that era. And they were not the only ones dressing up.

Some eighth graders who had Mrs. Weaver's class last year also participated in the activity.
