By ELAINA WARREN
Room 210 Editor

The sixth grade block teachers at South Middle School have stopped teaching social studies for the time being to use that hour to prepare for the MAP test.

“We want to make sure that the students are fully prepared for whatever may appear on the MAP,” said Kim Frencken, sixth grade block teacher. The teachers are feeling comfortable about using the social studies time to prepare the sixth grade students for the MAP.

“We would like the students to feel confident that they will do well on the MAP,” said Lisa Simmons, sixth grade block teacher.

Reading promotion to end, suffering to stop

By CHELSEA HARRIS
Room 210 Staff Writer

As of Jan.8, South Middle School students are short from their Reading Promotion goal by nine books.

Everyone is waiting and reading books for the final score. SMS students have to read 1,200 books to reach the goal. By Jan. 7, students had read 1,021 books. In one day, they read 170 books putting us at 1,191 books. Seventh hour, Jan. 9, they will find out truly if they reached their goal.
You may be wondering why students are reading all these books. If SMS students make the goal, an assembly will be held seventh hour Jan. 9. Mr. Ron Mitchell and Mr. Jarrett Cook will dance to “Thriller.”
