The 20 finalists have been named in the annual South Middle School Essay Contest, according to Mr. Randy Turner, eighth grade communication arts teacher.
This year's finalists, 14 eighth graders and six seventh graders, were chosen from among approximately 200 applicants. The top 10 will be announced Tuesday and the winners will be chosen by a panel of Joplin High School students who placed in the competition when they attended South.
The 20 finalists are:
Jordan Chambers, Christen Cool, Zach Davis, Makenzie Freeman, Colten Hawkins, Rachelle Hughbank, Will Kessler, Dylan King, Tori Mardis, Breanna Martin, Faith Mowry, Dylan Prauser, Mollie Sanders, Tim Scroggins,Braden Showers, Victoria Smith,Raycee Thompson, Taylor Tressler, Demi White, and Ken Zhang
The top 10 papers will be posted on the original Room 210 website: www.room210.com.
