How many times have you taken the MAP test? Was it stressful?
Well, the stress is over. As of Wednesday, April 25, MAP tests at South Middle School are over for another year.
MAP tests are taken by Missouri students in grades four through eight. The eighth graders' tests determine what classes they are able to take during high school.
Principal Mr. Ron Mitchell said, "My students here at South Middle School have made a great effort on the MAP test." He noted the high attendance, with sixth graders earning a party by having the highest percentage attend during testing days.
South has had success at the tests, Mr. Mitchell said. The scores for last year's seventh grade communication arts classes were 13 points above the state average.
To make scores even better this year, teachers have made changes. Sixth grade classes have worked with kids on their writing skills and the school has started giving MAP practice tests to show teaches the areas in which the students need help.
